Scope and content

Two maps of the same area of the United States, southeastern New York and Long Island. Maps is labeled with many different tribes and the areas that they possess. One map says outline is from Smith's 1837 map. One map is printed, but looks to be a proof because it has pencil notes for corrections. The color map is hand drawn. Includes, but not limited to: Acquackanonk, Cortland, Navesink, Nochpeem, Secatogue, Siwanoy, Tankiteke, Tappan, and Waoranec tribes.

Biographical / Historical

Reginald Bolton was born in London and moved to New York. He became a member of the New York Historical Society and of the Museum of the American Indian. He was known for his archeological work in Manhattan and at Revolutionary War sites.
