Two maps of the same area of the United States, southeastern New York and Long Island. Maps is labeled with many different tribes and the areas that they possess. One map says outline is from Smith's 1837 map. One map is printed, but looks to be a proof because it has pencil notes for corrections. The color map is hand drawn. Includes, but not limited to: Acquackanonk, Cortland, Navesink, Nochpeem, Secatogue, Siwanoy, Tankiteke, Tappan, and Waoranec tribes.

Notes on Moravian missions

Handwritten notebook. Gives a history of the Moravian Church and missions and their work with Indians. One section deals with the Moravian mission in Dutchess County, New York. There is mention of baptisms and giving Indians names. Works of George Loskiel, a Moravian historian, are used to write parts of the history. A laid in newspaper clipping about the ghost dance of the Cheyenne and Apache Indians is also included.

Correspondence, memoranda, notes, and other papers, concerning Indian place names on Long Island, N.Y., Coastal Algonquian ethnology, ethnohistory, and linguistics. Notes investigate name origins and discuss how they derive from native languages. Other notes include analysis of early American texts in native languages.
