Scope and content

Collection includes menus collected by William and Joan Ellis during their travels. A significant portion of the collection is from restaurants in France. Other areas of collection focus include California, Florida - particularly Palm Beach, New York City, Pennsylvania, Chicago, and New Jersey. Numerous other United States, and International menus are represented. There is also a collection of transportation related menus from airlines and ships. Some of the menus include the receipt documenting the meal from the time the menu was collected. Some menus are inscribed by the chef or include a note to the Ellises. The French restaurants tend to mostly be highly regarded Michelin Star listed places from chefs like Alain Ducasse and others. Several Michelin Guides are included with the collection.
