Typescript draft and printed reprint of "An algebra of Mendelism and its application to a mixed hybrid population," co-authored by Upton and A.W. Gilbert, published in Proceedings, American Breeders Association, 1912. Manuscript annotations on the draft indicate that (although Gilbert's name is listed first on the printed article) Upton wrote all but the last paragraph. With the draft of the article are about 6 leaves of notes.

Scope and content Included are excerpts and copies of letters written by Upton's mother relating incidents of Upton's boyhood and describing life in the Colorado grain country of the 1880s and 1890s; genealogical notes on the Burr family; two family bibles; a letter (2 pp.) to Upton's uncle, George Lincoln Burr; a poem written by Mrs. Upton; and a travelogue in the form of letters, including observations on animal life, botanical subjects, and geological features on a coast-to-coast automobile trip taken by...
