Abstract

The Chicago street gang collection contains photographs, newspaper clippings, memorial and business cards, ephemera, fabric patches, clothes, and inscribed books, documenting activities of the Chicago Gaylords (1953- ), as well as other street gangs in the Chicago area, dating from the late 1970s to the early 1980s.

Materials compiled and created by Bam Bam Flores (b.1969) documenting activities during his early adulthood in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas from approximately 1993 to 1996. The collection is comprised of graffiti artwork, photographs, magazines, ephemera, and correspondence referencing gang life, exchanged during a period of incarceration.
