Scope and content Letter written from Fort Belkamo, Texas. Describes crimes committed by Wichita, Waco, and Keechi Indians against residents of Texas, including horse theft. Discusses meeting with Chief Kowaaka [sic] and Major H. H. Sibley to discuss theft. It goes on to describe the imprisonment of the Indians and then their escape, in which the Chief lost his life after killing one of the guards. The Chief also killed his wife and child. Mentions talks with a Comanche Chief Gatumsie [sic] and War Chief...
