Scope and Contents
Each folder, dedicated to one patient, contains records of the patient’s admission, statistical data, court proceedings, health notes, charts, lab results, letters, and information about the patient’s death or discharge. These files were kept sporadically at first, but with an increasing level of detail and consistency until 1891, when a systematic record of complete histories was made permanent. The file numbers don’t have any known relationship to other records but the “identification number” in the records correspond with identification numbers in the Admissions Books, 1891–1924.
