Scope and Contents
Most photographs came from the 5780 P. ILGWU Photographs. Related correspondence with the Kheel Center’s archivist regarding photographs for Professor Parmet’s book David Dubinsky and American Labor can be found in Box 1, Folder 10: Permissions. The photographs predominantly document David Dubinsky’s activities as leader of the ILGWU, along with other figures such as Martin Luther King speaking at an AFL‑CIO event; Sidney Hillman and Jacob Potofsky of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (1937); Fiorello LaGuardia, Julius Hochman, Luigi Antonini, Benjamin Schlesinger, and others during contract negotiations; John F. Kennedy on several occasions; strikers; Robert Kennedy; and more.
