The collection also includes studies and publications on the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU)’s early history, such as journals, dissertations, organizational reports, biographical works, and ephemera documenting garment industry unions and their politics, immigrant garment-industry labor leadership and relavant educational activities. Research files on David Dubinsky and the ILGWU, arranged chronologically with folders from 1892–1930, contain correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, translations, ephemera, and other documents, that record mainly ILGWU union governance, Communist Party related activity, and garment industry strikes. Additional material includes ILGWU Proceedings, Reports and Records of the ILGWU Conventions, from 1920 to 1937. Audiovisual material includes primarily audio cassettes with interviews taken mainly by professor Parmet to providing firsthand accounts of ILGWU history, leadership, and labor activism. Part of these interviews was conducted in preparation for the professor's Parmet book, The Master of Seventh Avenue: David Dubinsky and the American Labor Movement. Of special interest are drafts of works such as “David Dubinsky and the Red Goliath” and “David Dubinsky’s War on Communism”; materials for public talks, including “Discovering David Dubinsky” and several materials throughout the collection for the preparation of the book The Master of Seventh Avenue: David Dubinsky and the American Labor Movement.
