Biographical / Historical

Nesheim earned a B.S. in agricultural science, an M.S. in animal nutrition from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. in nutrition from Cornell University. Professor emeritus in the Division of Nutritional Sciences and Provost Emeritus at Cornell University. Nesheim joined the faculty in 1959 and in 1974 he was named the director of the Division of Nutritional Sciences, a position that he held until 1987. Prior to becoming Cornell's provost in 1989, he held the position of Vice President for Planning and Budgeting. In 1995 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 1997 he was elected a fellow of the American Society of Nutritional Sciences.
