Scope and content

Manuscripts of speeches, correspondence, newspaper articles, pamphlets, and other printed texts reflecting Jordan's views and activities. Topics of his speeches include agricultural education, agricultural research, the New York Agricultural Experiment Station at Geneva, the future of the city of Geneva, and the relation of the church to the community. Audiences for his speeches include state and local farm organizations, graduating classes at various agricultural colleges, the Massachusetts State Board of Agriculture, Massachusetts Horticultural Society, and the Geneva Presbytery.

Biographical / Historical

W.H. Jordan (Whitman Howard Jordan) served as the Director of the Maine State College Agricultural Experiment Station in the 1890s, then as Director of the New York Agricultural Experiment Station at Geneva from 1896-1921, and as Professor of Animal Nutrition in the New York State College of Agriculture at Cornell University from 1920-1921.
