Witchcraft booksellers' catalogs
Scope and content
Catalogs of rare books on witchcraft, alchemy, and the occult which were consulted by Cornell librarians. Some have annotations by Andrew Dickson White or George Lincoln Burr, indicating which books they selected for purchase. The catalogs are from British, French, German, and American antiquarian book dealers, including Anderson Galleries auction house, Archives du Bibliophile, Bernard Quaritch, Henry Sotheran & Co., J. Schieble's Antiquariat & Verlagsbuchhandlung, Karl Theodor Völcker, Ludwig Rosenthal's Antiquariat, Maggs Bros., and v. Zahn & Jaensch, among others. The catalogs are loosely grouped in chronological order, with undated catalogs at the end.
