Biographical / Historical

Albert Kingsbury graduated from Cornell with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1889. He invented the Kingsbury thrust bearing (a type of ball bearing), patented in 1910, and subsequently started the Kingsbury Machine Works. The case ALBERT KINGSBURY VS. THE UNITED STATES was settled in favor of Kingsbury. A value of one million dollars was established for the patent.
