Scope and Contents

Album of postcards sent by William Hull Botsford in Europe to his family in the United States in 1912. Destinations represented include Egypt, Italy, Madeira, Monaco, Greece, Algeria, France, Germany, and England. Also present are postcards of the SS Kaiserin Auguste Victoria, the ship on which Botsford sailed to Europe; a few postcards addressed to Botsford; and blank postcards depicting scenes and people from the southern United States. Some of the United States postcards include stereotypical depictions of African Americans and Native Americans.
