Scope and Contents
Subseries contains ephemera representing the cultural impact of the telegraph. Materials present include commemorative stamps; theater programs featuring performances related to the telegraph, including one from the National Theatre in Boston advertising a “Grand Celebration of the Atlantic Cable” (September 18, 1859). Also present is a poster from the Boston, Salem and Newburyport Telegraph Company advertising a reward for information on a series of acts of vandalism of the company’s telegraph equipment (August 1, 1848).
