Manuscript notes from the trial before the New York State Supreme Court in a breach of contract lawsuit. The contract was for work on deepening a section of the Black River in Lewis County, New York to make it navigable for steamboats. The plaintiff was Gordnis [?] Gould, the defendants Alvah Ward and Archibald McVickar.

Dates: 1866.

Manuscript and printed legal documents in the lawsuit as it came before the New York State Supreme Court, including points on the part of the plaintiffs, subpoenas, deposition of Samuel Beardsley, and correspondence relating to the case. Also, documents in the appeal in the case of Maus V.V. Rosa vs. John Butterfield et al., tried in the state Supreme Court in 1860, which also concerns money owed by the Black River & Utica Rail Road Company.
