A petition to the New York State Legislature for incorporation of a company to construct a railroad from the Village of Ithaca to the Head of Cayuga Lake, ca.1840; and a report, "The Proposed Cayuga Lake Railroad, to connect Ithaca with the New York Central by way of Ludlowville, Aurora and Union Springs," April 25, 1867.

Scope and content

Manuscript and printed legal documents and correspondence concerning the case as it came before the Oneida County (New York) Circuit Court, the Oneida County Supreme Court, and then before the Supreme Court for the Fifth Judicial District of the State of New York. Included are transcripts of Stephen Covell's testimony and letters among the attorneys involved in the case: C.W. White, the plaintiff's attorney, and Kernan, Quinn & Kernan, the defendant's attorneys.
