A letter from Noble E. Whitford, author of the "History of the Canal System of the State of of New York" (Albany, 1906), to Mrs. A. M. Goodman of Ithaca, New York concerning the writing, publication, and distribution of his book. He also commented on the merits of the major histories and reports dealing with New York canals in the period 1825 to 1933.
