On the right of the order is Feng Tian Gao Ming, which means imperial order by the mandate of Heaven. Gao Ming signifies that this order was also issued for an official on or above 5th rank or his relative. A test paper from the Qing Dynasty for the Imperial Examination held in Beijing in 1894. The examination was given in the Royal Palace and Emperor Guangxu personally presided over the test. The candidate, Chai Pu, passed the exam and was later appointed to a magistrate post.
