Manuscript volumes, each consisting of an accordion-style folded book, 13 x 38 cm. or smaller. They contain drawings of various animals, deities (nats and devas), and magical formulae, written in white and red ink on black paper. Some volumes also contain astrological information. One volume has covers ornately painted in red and black.

Dates: circa 1872-circa 1900.

Scope and content

Manuscript volume from Burma, consisting of an accordion-style folded book, 5 x 49 cm. It contains a selection of passages from Samantapāsādikā, arranged topically by Sāriputta in the 12th century. The manuscript has sides painted in gold and red, with front and back covers made of red painted wood. Inscription on the cover reads: Vinaya sangaha pada 8 kyaung 25 (bhanga?).

Dates: 1793.
