The 23 journals span the period 1924-1959, with 1929 missing and some gaps, especially in later years. The records provide good information and reporting on storage of apples. The Kurtzes were probably the first in New York State to try "gas" storage of apples (later called "CA storage). They tried "ozone" machines in storage to "purify" the air, realized that poor air circulation was an important factor causing "storage scald" of apples, and noted the problem of "off flavors" in Northern...
