Native American greeting card collection
Greeting cards marking birthdays, Christmas and the New Year, Valentine's Day, Fathers' Day and other events. Also postcards and publicity items from various institutions including the Museum of the American Indian. Many cards are designed with original artwork from Native American artists.
Robert Harper Murray miscellany
Hand drawn (pen and ink) and written Christmas card from an unidentified woman named "Gertrude," incorporating the words of "The Evening Song"(stanzas 2 and 3 are variants of the usual "Evening Song") and sketches of Cornell campus. Received by Robert Harper Murray, presumably while or shortly after he was a student at Cornell.
Valentine collection
A variety of commercially produced postcards and greeting cards for the occassion of Valentine's Day, February 14. Included are clapsaddle postcards (one with a girl making a quilt reads "St. Valentine's Greeting, Woman's sphere is in the home"); three-dimensional German cards from the early 1900's; and valentines from the 1960's through 1980 saved by Gladys Coughlan, a woman in Alberta, Canada.
