The originals were dated 1828-1838; the transcripts, from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, are accompanied by an envelope dated 1939. Records, including correspondence, notes, articles, and lists, beginning with the "call to organize" in 1910 by Liberty Hyde Bailey, Dean of the New York State College of Agriculture and John Craig, Professor of Horticulture, to the organization's formalization on February 22, 1911, with Paul Work, Superintendent of the Department of Vegetable Gardening, as it's first secretary, through 1947.
