Scope and content

Typewritten transcripts of a letter to Watson from Robert Troup and a letter to Elijah Miller from Watson. The originals were dated 1828-1838; the transcripts, from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, are accompanied by an envelope dated 1939. The letters focus on New York state politics and the creation of agricultural societies.

Records, including correspondence, notes, articles, and lists, beginning with the "call to organize" in 1910 by Liberty Hyde Bailey, Dean of the New York State College of Agriculture and John Craig, Professor of Horticulture, to the organization's formalization on February 22, 1911, with Paul Work, Superintendent of the Department of Vegetable Gardening, as it's first secretary, through 1947.
