Diary of a trip to New York City by mail car, back up the Hudson, across the Erie Canal to Montezuma, along the Seneca Canal, to Ithaca; thence to Owego by railroad, by horse to Friendsville and Montrose Pennsylvania; by stage to Tunkhannock and Wilkes Barre; by boat on the Pennsylvania Canal, and back to Philadelphia.

Dates: 1835.

Scope and content

Prospectus advertising land known as the Cook Farm, on East Hill, which is to be divided into lots and sold. The prospectus includes a description of Ithaca as a town of 14,000 people, served by 3 railroads and a streetcar system, with 3 opera houses, among other features. The prospectus contains a map of the land to be sold, lying north of East State Street and east of downtown Ithaca.

Copies of plans of the Strand Theatre, including 1977-1986 renovation plans. Also, 17 page photocopy of "The Strand Theatre" (1978), by Elaine Harrington, including information concerning the architectural and cultural history of the Ithaca, New York theatre and notes by the author.
