Abstract

Amelia Quinton Stone (1833-1926) was born in Jamesville, New York. Her correspondence includes several hundred letters both to and from, dating approximalty 1874-1910. The collection also includes associated documents relating to her advocacy for Native American rights and her work as one of the founders of the Women’s National Indian Association.

Scope and content

Contains photocopies of material including the Constitution of the Society of Samoset from 1932, a 60th anniversary of the society booklet from 1972, minutes from the society, description of the Samoset ritual, meeting places, list of members. Notes with the material from 1993 states that the collection was given to the Brooklyn Museum and then sent to the Brooklyn Historical Society library.
