Collection includes research data, course notebooks, manuscripts, and letters of Dr. Robert H. Whittaker, an ecologist who taught at Cornell University and elsewhere.

Includes graduate research papers for thesis entitled "A Comparison of Forests at the Time of European Settlement and During 1981 in an Area Surrounding Keuka Lake, New York." Includes drafts, photocopies of original land surveys (1788-1827) of the Phelps and Gorham Purchase, annotated U.S. Geological Survey maps, recently published soil surveys of Steuben and Schuyler counties, field notes, and articles from 19th and early 20th century concerning the Keuka Lake area.
