Henry Bowman papers
Papers of a tanner in Elmira, New York, including correspondence with leather dealers in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc.; also two letters from John Bowman, who was hunting hides in Michigan (1855). Account books and personal records include a memorandum and diary of a trip to Chicago by way of the lakes in 1849; broadsides of prices current in leather exchange, two penmanship books, four newspapers, a book catalog, trade card, two pamphlets, two maps, and a music copy sheet.
