 Series

Scope and Contents

The subcommittee, also designated as the Subcommittee on Title IX and the Program for the Handicapped, was established following the passing of the Rehabilitation Act in 1973. This legislation prohibited discrimination against individuals with disabilities in institutions that receive federal funding. The records document the activities of the subcommittee, including an evaluation of facilities and accessibility (with schematics), and solicitations for staff and faculty with disabilities to identify themselves and provide recommendations on university facilities.
