Scope and Contents
This series includes admission registers for both the Lexington Avenue and Staten Island branches. Some of the registers are written alphabetically and others are arranged chronologically. The recorded information varies over time but usually includes names of the patient and the child, dates of admission and discharge, ethnicity, religion, age of child, residence of parents, name of admitting officer, name of attending physician, and “remarks,” which may include information on disposition of case (such as whether the child was returned to parents, note on death, etc.). The 1859-1863 Lexington Avenue chronological register is labeled “Volume 2.” Alphabetical volumes are arranged by surname.
