The collection contains material from the original Pins and Needles cast member, Eugene Goldstein, documenting the performance history, revival productions, publicity, and cultural reception of the Pins and Needles musical revue produced by the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU). Spanning 1937–1998, the materials reflect both the original Broadway run and later commemorative and revival efforts. The collection contains newspaper clippings with articles and photo spreads documenting early press coverage from the late 1930s, revivals and anniversaries, publications, oversize programs from various tour performances in many cities in the U.S. and Canada, songbooks, production stills, and backstage and other photographs from Eugene Goldstein’s time performing in Pins and Needles. The collection includes articles on the show’s White House performance for President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt; mid century anniversary shows; and late 1970s revival publicity. Additional content highlights cast member Ruth Gaebler (Rubinstein), her affiliation with ILGWU Local 32, and her solos in the original production. The collection has two series.
