Note on back: Sir Phillip Sassoon opened a new ballroom in his house…Billy Reardon and I danced…and I had this dress made of white satin with black, white and silver ermine tails made of beads. It was during our brief appearance at the Embassy Club (Note have invitation tothis event-tiny envelope)

Purchased in Europe 1912, the outfit her first widely copied “signature look." She wore the cap when she and Vernon appeared in the Broadway musical comedy “The Sunshine Girl” in 1913. See related images in box 19.

Caption reads " My very newest costume: royal Flying Corps uniform with all the emblems and buttons that I brought from England. The cap is Mr. Castle's own and has seen two months of active service at the front. The dog, Tell von Flugelrade, is Mr. Castle's favorite pet that I am keeping for him until his return and incidentally is the best trained dog in America and has won everywhere as such for the past two years."
