James W. Wadsworth was a U.S. senator from New York. Reuben Hyde Walworth was chancellor of New York State. Christopher Morgan was the New York secretary of state. Erastus Corning was a railroad executive, subsequently mayor of Albany, New York and a Congressman from New York. George Law was a contractor and transportation promoter. Thomas Collier Platt was a Congressman and then a Senator from New York. Charles Tracey was a manufacturer and subsequently a Congressman from New York.
