Kellogg Logsdon World War I letters
Scope and content
Letters mainly written to his mother and sister describe Logsdon's experience preparing for war and the conditions upon arriving in France. He mentions living at the 15th century castle Countess d'Cadillac's Chateau, discusses transportation, food, the Spanish influenza, pay, stocks his family is invested in, and his fellow colleagues amongst other subjects. Also included are typed transcripts of the letters in physical and electronic format.

Biographical / Historical
Kellogg Logsdon, graduated from Cornell University in 1913. He enlisted in the Army May 10, 1917 and was discharged June 13, 1919. He served as a 1st lieutenant with the 342nd infantry regiment. He completed Officer Training School at Camp Grant, Illinois. He was retained as cadre after receiving his commission. He sailed on a troop ship to France and underwent pre combat training there. He was billeted in the Countess d'Cadillac's Chateau. He was on a troop train on the way to the Front when the Armistice was declared.
