Scope and content

Scrapbook and volume documenting Tuvin's experience as a mechanical engineering student at Cornell. Volume titled Mechanical Engineering Experiments Performed at Sibley College Cornell University by Julius Harold Tuvin, October 1912. The volume has both typed and manuscript pages and includes, text, graphs, illustrations and photographs of experiments and equipment in the Sibley laboratory. The preface says that the volume represents the results of one scholastic year's work performed during the second term of Tuvin's sophomore year and the second term of his junior year. The work represented includes instruction from Professor George B. Upton, Professor Herman Diederichs. All the instructors and his fellow lab partners are listed in the book. The book covers a range of metallurgical subjects and equipment like furnaces. It also includes notes on lectures. Biographical / Historical

Julius Tuvin was from Frostburg Maryland and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering as a member of the Class of 1912. He was a member of the Southerners club and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
