Original manuscript contract between James Grosett and John Newbery for the latter to manufacture "Lisbon or German Doctor's Diet Drink, The Unguento de Cao, The Angola Ptisan" from Grosett's recipes, exclusively. Provisions are made for ensuring secrecy and for handing over the recipes to successors. On vellum, 19.5 x 28", with revenue stamps, seals, and ribbons. Signed by Grosett and Newbery, and, as witnesses, Thomas Carnan, Newbery's partner and Shaw Grosett. Inscribed on verso "Presented to Caspar W. Hodgson in memory of Charles Welsh at his death in Sept. 1914 by Mrs. Welsh."
