Biographical / Historical

R.D. Miller was the Dean of Faculty at Cornell University at the height of the campus unrest in 1969, including the takeover of Willard Straight Hall by a small group of African American student protesters in the spring of that year. Miller received many letters from alumni and others, most of them highly critical of the University administration for being too conciliatory toward the students.
