Biographical / Historical

Ithaca Staff Purchases was formed by Cornell University faculty in 1954 as a cooperative purchasing venture in which all University staff could participate. It was created in order to broaden the opportunity for the staff to make major purchases at a discount, like the employees of other large firms or institutions. The business operated until 1963, when it turned over to the University its interest in the payments it was owed. It was officially dissolved in January 1964.
