Correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and programs concerning the Festival of Contemporary Arts. Also included is a report on the teaching of music at Cornell, submitted to President Edmund Ezra Day by John M. Kuypers in 1945. Also, correspondence and newspaper clippings from 1914, documenting earlier efforts to put together a series of chamber music concerts in Ithaca, New York. Correspondents include John M. Kuypers, P.B. (Paul Bruce) Pettitt, the Walden String Quartet from the University of Illinois, and others.

The Festival of Contemporary Arts (initially sometimes called the Festival of Contemporary American Arts), hosted by Cornell University, was held in late May or early June each year beginning in 1945. John M. Kuypers was the chair of the Department of Music at Cornell at that time.
