Biographical / Historical

James A. Perkins was inaugurated as Cornell University's seventh president on October 4, 1963. In addition to the inauguration ceremony itself, the occasion was marked by a luncheon, a reception in the White Art Museum, a panel discussion on the future of Cornell, the dedication of Bard Hall, and a lecture on the Arecibo Ionospheric Laboratory by Professors Thomas Gold and William E. Gordon.
