Biographical / Historical

Danny Schechter (1942-2015), Cornell Class of 1964 and writer for the Cornell Daily Sun, was an activist, journalist, media critic, writer, and independent filmmaker. He played a significant role in the Cornell activist community in the 1960s and became a civil rights worker after graduation. He worked as a producer for CNN in its start-up phase, was responsible for more than 50 news segments on the ABC newsmagazine 20/20, for which he won two Emmy Awards, and was a leader in the South Africa Anti-Apartheid movement.
