Scope and content

Programs for cultural events in Ithaca, New York and in New York City, mainly for plays and concerts. Dramatic performances include plays by J.M. Barrie; plays featuring actors William Gillette, Tyrone Power, Maude Adams, and others; and performances by the Cornell Dramatic Club, the Cornell Women's Dramatic Club, and the Cornell Masque, as well as other performances at the Lyceum Theatre in Ithaca and the Apollo Theatre in New York. Musical performances include concerts by the Philharmonic Society of New York, conducted by Gustav Mahler; concerts by violinist Fritz Kreisler and pianist Josef Hofmann; concerts by the New York Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Walter Damrosch; and other performances at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Metropolitan Opera. Other events include the inauguration of Livingston Farrand as president of Cornell University (October 20, 1921), and the University's semi-centennial celebration (June 20-23, 1919).

Also included are wedding announcements and invitations, mainly for weddings in New York State, including an announcement by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Henry Thurston of the marriage of their sister, Olive Grace Boughton; and a card for Mr. and Mrs. Willard Fiske of the Legation of the United States at Berlin on July 14, 1880.
