Scope and content

Photographs of entomologists, both individually and in groups at conferences, together with some photographs of entomology and natural history buildings and laboratories that formerly existed at Cornell University. Group photographs are from conventions held by the Entomological Congress, the Association for the Advancement of Science, and others; a photograph of faculty of the New York State College of Agriculture, Department of Entomology, is also included. Individual photographs are mainly of American entomologists, but also include several photos of Japanese and German entomologists. Individuals shown include John Henry Comstock, Anna Botsford Comstock, J.G. Needham, John Merton Aldrich, A.D. MacGillivray, Arthur A. Allen, E. Dwight Sanderson, Philip R. Uhler, S.J. Kuwana, J.A. Houser, C. Gordon Hewitt, Albert Hazen Wright, and M.V. (Mark) Slingerland. Cornell facilities pictured include the Insectory, the Elementary Entomology Laboratory in White Hall, and the Natural History Lecture Room. Many of the photographs are annotated by A.H.W.
