Scope and content

Materials concerning the question of whether or not the public water supply should be fluoridated, collected from various sources by Howard Evans as Ithaca, New York was debating whether or not to fluoridate its water. Collection includes leaflets, letters (including public mass mailings), and newspaper clippings, with arguments for and against fluoridation from residents and government officials in Rhode Island, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and in the New York City area and Long Island. Correspondents and authors include the Montclair Committee for Fluoridation (in New Jersey), the Medical-Dental Committee on Evaluation of Fluoridation (a national organization), Dr. Benjamin Spock, the Montclair Committee Against Fluoridation, the Greater New York Committee Opposed to Fluoridation, and the Ithaca Committee Opposed to Fluoridation.
