Combs, great-great-grandson of Hannah and Samuel Combs, at the dedication ceremony. The remarks focus on recounting the lives of Samuel and Hannah Combs, with a little information on some of their descendants.

Biographical / Historical

Hannah Combs and Hannah Jennings were the wife and daughter of Samuel Combs, Jr., a soldier in the Continental Army during the American Revolution who participated in the Sullivan Expedition of 1779. The family lived in the Hudson River valley for 20 years, then moved to Ovid in 1801. The daughter Hannah was the youngest of three children born to Samuel and Hannah Combs. Samuel died during the War of 1812, in which he had followed the army as a trader, selling the produce of the family farm.
