There are two towns named Victory in New York State: one east of Saratoga Springs in Saratoga County, and one between Rochester and Syracuse in Cayuga County. The town of Victory in Cayuga County was formed from the town of Cato in 1821 after a bitter political dispute over whether to break up Cato. Both Victory and the town of Conquest were formed at that time and named for the political victory of those who favored the breakup.
