Letter to Dr. Krumbhaar on Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research letterhead, dated October 11, 1933, in which Smith reflects on the nature of scientific research and trends that he has seen in the course of his career. Also, a "Health bulletin for teachers" leaflet, April 1954, focusing on Theobald Smith's research in bacteriology and pathology.

Biographical / Historical
American epidemiologist and pathologist. After graduating from Cornell University in 1881, he received a medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1883. He served as Inspector at the federal Bureau of Animal Industry from 1884-1895, taught at Columbian University (now George Washington University), then at Harvard, and finally joined the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research as Director of the Department of Animal Pathology in 1915. He remained there until his retirement in 1929.
