Scope and content

Ration books issued to Duthie by the United States Office of Price Administration around 1943, containing ration stamps. On the back are printed instructions for using the stamps and salvaging tin cans and waste fats for the war effort.

Biographical / Historical

Mary E. Duthie was a professor of rural sociology in the New York State College of Agriculture (later the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) at Cornell University. She was also an extension specialist in community recreation and drama. Hired initially in 1924, she remained at Cornell until her retirement in 1955. After retiring she continued to be active in Ithaca community organizations.
