Scope and content
Typewritten signed letter from President Theodore Roosevelt to the Attorney General, June 20, 1907, concerning a proposed bill to curb illegal actions by large corporations, together with a photocopy of the letter. Also, manuscript of a sermon preached by Reverend Charles Brooks in Newport, Rhode Island, on October 22, 1871, just two weeks after the Great Chicago Fire; and printed copies of two speeches by Charles J. Bonaparte, "The spoils system in the government of dependencies" (read before the National Civil Service Reform League on December 15,1899) and "Concord and the American Revolution" (delivered on the 125th anniversary of the Battle of Concord, April 19, 1900).
