Scope and content

Materials in this collection were compiled by Joe Conzo, Sr. in his role as Tito Puente's publicist. The collection includes correspondence, business records, flyers, concert and event programs, press packets and press releases, Latin music catalogs and discographies, magazines relating to Latin music and culture in New York, and photographs relating not only to Tito Puente, but a broad range of associated Latin music stars who rose to prominence in 1960s and 1970s New York. Also included are records documenting the Tito Puente Scholarship Fund.

Biographical / Historical

Joe Conzo Sr. was born in Spanish Harlem, of Puerto Rican and Italian descent. He was Tito Puente's publicist, archivist and biographer, and has written books and lectured on the topics of Tito Puente and Latin Music. He is the father of photographer Joe Conzo, Jr.
