Scope and content

Collection consists mainly of unidentified photographs and negatives, including a photograph album and a small set of loose photographs which are probably of the Roycroft community. Also, a small set of graphic prints of the Roycroft Shop and outbuildings, a few typewritten letters to Walter C. Hieby on routine business matters (including a response to an inquiry about staying at the Roycroft Inn), and a portrait of Elbert Hubbard.

Biographical / Historical

American writer, publisher, artist, and philosopher. He founded Roycroft, a community of artists and craftspeople in East Aurora, New York, which played an important role in the Arts and Crafts movement. Hubbard and his second wife, Alice Moore Hubbard, died in the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915.
